Coloured Line Frankfurt 2012
On the occasion of New Zealand’s invitation as the Guest of Honour at the 2012 Frankfurt Book Fair, the Frankfurter Kunstverein presented the group exhibition, Contact: Artists from Aotearoa/New Zealand. The first comprehensive exhibition of contemporary art from New Zealand in Germany for over ten years brought together paintings, photographs, films, and installations by nearly 20 New Zealand artists. Curated by Aaron Kreisler and Dr. Leonhard Emmerling, Simon Morris made the wall drawing, Coloured Line Frankfurt 2012, as a response to the architectural space.
Coloured Line Mexico City 2011
Simon Morris was invited by the curators Gonzalo Ortega and Richard Reddaway, to contribute an artwork in the exhibition, Aotearoa Baroque presented at MUCA ROMA in Mexico City. Coloured Line Mexico City 2011 engaged with the specific architectural qualities of the gallery space within the broader context of ‘Aotearoa Baroque’ and Mexico City. The artwork was painted directly onto the wall of the museum linking the stairwell with the upper gallery floor.

Involving two galleries and three curators (Gertrude Contemporary Melbourne, curators Emily Cormack and Amita Kirpalani, and ST PAUL St Gallery, Auckland, curator Charlotte Huddleston), Simon Morris was invited to contribution a large-scale, site responsive wall drawing to the exhibition, Reason and Rhyme.
Rainscreen (2007)
Rainscreen is a large-scale, public artwork stretching 64 metres across the front of the newly redeveloped Dowse Art Museum. In collaboration with Athfield Architects and Fraser Engineering, Rainscreen is a centrepiece artwork showcasing innovation through collaboration as a model of the Museum’s key focus on creativity and collaboration across disciplines. Simon Morris developed a mathematical system on leading computer engineering technology to create a complex, non-looping pattern across the facade structure.
