Animation Lecturer

Andrew is an award-winning animator and artist with 27 years of experience in the film, television and games industry, both in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally. In that time, he has worked on many ground-breaking feature films from “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” to the yet to be released “Avatar2”.

  • Recent research successes

    The Matrix Awakens (2021), (open world virtual technology demonstration using Unreal Engine 5)
    The Matrix Awakens blurs the boundary between visual effects in cinema and real time virtual worlds. Andrew was part of a team creating virtual vehicles and architectural components to construct a virtual city.

    Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018)
    As part of Weta’s Art Department Andrew designed and built much of the ‘Brutalist’ architecture, for this final instalment of the Maze Runner film trilogy, a story about survival in a dystopian future. His contributions included the City Gates, City Walls, and Tower Guns. He also helped design and build the interior City Buildings.
