Professor Karen Loop is currently Programme Lead | Screen Arts for Massey’s National Academy of Screen Arts.  Prior to that, she served as Associate Dean at a top-ten American film school where her speciality was building bridges between the entertainment industry and academia.   

 

She has over 25 years of experience as a film and television producer. Her latest feature is Universal Studios’ On The Basis of Sex, in which Felicity Jones portrays a young Ruth Bader Ginsburg. 

 

Before striking out as an independent producer, she worked in development for Academy Award-winning producers at Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios. She began her career in physical production in New York City, directing several music videos and working on Emmy-award-winning documentaries and public affairs shows. She holds a BA in Communication Studies from UCLA and an MFA in Film Production from New York University (NYU).  Her teaching areas include filmmaking, producing and narrative storytelling.
