Catherine Bagnall

Catherine Bagnall

Senior Lecturer, Ngā Pae Māhutonga Wellington School of Design

Catherine Bagnall grew up on the bushy eastern shore of the inner harbour of Whanganui-a -Tara. An interest in mythological worlds and enchanted natural spaces began in childhood there. Her interdisciplinary research blends art, design, water-colours, clothing, walking, and feminist ecology.

She is recognized for her performative walks, frock-based fieldwork, and contributions to embodied landscape methodology.

Recently she has co-authored two tiny books of poetry and watercolour paintings with poet Jane Sayle published by Massey University Press. The book paintings depict the 21st century life of non-human creatures and forest-dwelling girls in the wild green places of the natural living world.
